Director of Innovation (m/f/d)
in Schwäbisch Gmünd

Your core tasks

  • Technical and disciplinary management of the Innovation Department (5 direct report, 11 employees in total)
  • Conception and deployment of the technology roadmap
  • Scoping, scouting and qualification of new suppliers, advanced product development and manufacturing processes
  • Scoping, scouting and qualification of materials that are innovative and / or sustainable and align with Product Design requirements
  • Responsible to develop and maintain the Technology Section of Design Guidelines for all product types (figurines, playsets, packaging)
  • Responsible for Approved Material List
  • Responsible to work in collaboration with Strategic Suppliers on alternative technologies, materials or processes that would significantly increase value for Schleich through reduced cost, improved quality, unique product characteristics, or incremental sustainability
  • As / if required, ensures support for Product Life Cycle Management teams in the deployment of innovations into End to End product development projects
  • Responsible for developing further Rapid Prototyping activities and team, including collaboration and resource planning as a service to End-to-End product development teams as required
  • Responsible for developing and motivating employees in order to drive top performance as individual contributors or as a team

Your profile

  • You completed your doctorate or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, materials engineering or similar with a specialization in plastics, plastics processing, or similar.
  • You have 12+ years of work experience in technical and disciplinary leadership of product design and / or development.
  • You are characterized by many years of management experience.
  • You are used to working in an international working environment.
  • You are experienced in research & development.
