Manager Strategic Supplier Acquisition (m/f/d)
in Schwäbisch Gmünd

Your core tasks

  • Scout, identify and qualify new suppliers for Schleich that align with our company's values, sourcing strategy, innovation requirements, and global growth ambitions,
  • Responsible for the strategic account management of defined directed Tier 2 material sources (resins, adhesives, paints)
  • Scout global and regional market in order to identify best practices, market opportunities, and competitor insights for raw materials and manufacturing services. This includes bringing forth proactive proposals for alternative technologies or processes that might be considered in new product development.
  • Lead Supplier Qualification and On-Boarding at Schleich, including defining supplier selection criteria, negotiating contractual and commercial terms, arranging for supplier (self-)audits and defining the supplier relationship framework.
  • Responsible for sharing Outside-In View of Global Supplier Base trends in the plastics and injection molding and giving an outlook on market cost trends.

Your profile

  • You have a university degree in Industrial Engineering, Material Engineering (with focus on Plastics, Polymers, Sustainable Materials), Mechanical Engineering, or Business Administration.
  • You worked 5+ years in a Strategic Sourcing or Strategic Procurement role, with focus on New Supplier Development and Plastics Commodity Management.
  • You bring extensive technical knowledge on tool design and production.
  • You are a highly curious, entrepreneurial thinker who is up to date with industry trends, new market entrants, new materials, and competitive opportunities.
  • You have excellent organizational and time management skills combined with analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • You have an advanced ability to collaborate and negotiate.
  • You are willing to travel in order to develop, promote, and maintain strategic sourcing relationships.
